Description
On November 17, 2021, Courtney Evetts, Corinth, MS Firefighter, was rushed to the hospital and was later diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Guillain-Barre (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body’s immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your extremities are usually the first symptoms. These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body.
Courtney had to learn how to walk again and is still recovering today. Recovery from GBS can take 6-12 months and even up to 3 years. It’s a slow process.
The turtle is the logo for GBS awareness. The turtle symbolizes determination, persistence, patience, and understanding. The turtle can teach us to stay grounded even in moments of disturbance and chaos. Slow and steady.
These patches are $10 each. All proceeds will go to Courtney for medical expenses as she continues to recover. We can’t wait to see her fully recovered and back out there doing what she loves again.
